Pat Metheny loads up his "Orchestrion" for North American tour - Setlist blog
Pat Metheny [ tickets ]'s one-man show "Orchestrion" is booked for another 19 North American performance halls in October. Most of the dates are in the Northeast.
On the first go-round following the release of "Orchestrion," Metheny and his multi-instrument contraption played the Barbican in London, l'Olympia in Paris, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, Town Hall in New York City and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Coming away from the L.A. show, I found that Metheny did not deviate from the styles he is commonly associated with -- lengthy guitar lines, slightly shifting tempos and some gorgeous lyricism. Parole rejected for John Lennon's killer - Pop Notes
For the sixth time, John Lennon [ tickets ]'s killer has been denied parole. Mark David Chapman, now 55 years old, gunned down Lennon on a New York City street on Dec. 8, 1980.
On Tuesday (9/8), a New York parole board reportedly interviewed Chapman via a video conference. He first became eligible for parole in 2000. ...continued More news: John Lennon

Katy Perry to appear on "Saturday Night Live" season opener - Pop Notes
Katy Perry [ tickets ] will be the musical guest on the Sept. 25 season premiere of "Saturday Night Live" on NBC-TV.

Now that Canadian rapper/singer/actor Drake [ tickets ] has completed several summer festival appearances, his headlining "Dreams and Nightmares Tour" is poised for take off.
Miami fans will be treated to the tour's kickoff on Sept. 21, and the setlist will surely include tracks from his new album, "Thank Me Later," as well as last year's extended EP "So Far Gone." Alejandro Sanz, Juan Luis Guerra lead Latin Grammy nominations - Pop Notes
Spaniard Alejandro Sanz [ tickets ] and Dominican Juan Luis Guerra [ tickets ] picked up four Latin Grammy nominations apiece today, as did Uruguayan songwriter Jorge Drexler [ tickets ] and Mario Domm, frontman of the Mexican group Camila [ tickets ].

Usher readies for "OMG" arena run
Usher [ tickets ] has finally revealed the dates for a fall tour of North America behind his chart-topping album, "Raymond v. Raymond," and its follow-up EP, "Versus."
The multi-platinum artist will kick off the "OMG Tour" with a Nov. 10 show in Seattle, followed by another 23 major market stops throughout the nation and parts of Canada. Sarah McLachlan brings "Friends" along for fall run
After a round of Australian shows next month, Sarah McLachlan [ tickets ] will return to the States for an intimate eight-date run in support of her recently released studio set, "Laws of Illusion."
The Canadian songstress and Lilith Fair founder has five Australian concerts on the books for early October, after which she will begin the "Sarah and Friends" tour with a Nov. 1 appearance in Grand Prairie, TX.
